In this workshop we’ll explore all of the ways that digital illustration can be applied to risograph printing! We’ll look at the history of printing processes and ink overlays, different strategies for creating digital illustrations, and go through the process of formatting your images for successful riso printing. This workshop focuses specifically on the many ink overlay and opacity techniques possible with risograph printing—especially in creating a multi-faceted and colorful image using only a few ink colors.

In this workshop we will go over the basics of bookbinding, and learn four simple techniques perfect for binding your own zines and journals. We will explore a little history of bookbinding, introduce the tools, materials, and bookbinding vocabulary, and then sew some books! The four book structures we will learn are the 3-hole pamphlet, 5-hole pamphlet, Japanese stab binding, and the French link.
