We are welcoming NYC based Brian Kaspr as he demonstrates the basics of brush lettering, discusses the merits of pink, the pitfalls of purple, and all the ways not to do things. This workshop will focus on straightforward script and "casual" uppercase block styles. This workshop will be geared more toward the beginner letterer, but know-it-alls are welcome too. Which techniques are real and which are road blocks to force you to struggle so B. Kaspr can get ahead in his freelance career? All will be revealed in this 3 hour workshop.
FEE: $50 includes materials. Registration via Eventbrite.
Bio: Brian Kaspr is a graphic designer and letterer based in the NYC area. Growing up in Milwaukee solidified his appreciation for artisanal American craft and the desire to work with his hands. Attending a prestigious art college in Baltimore and working as a design professional focused his early influences into a specific aesthetic style that is artfully cognizant, rooted in traditional quality, and full of character. Kaspr creates original logotypes, patterns, and one-of-a-kind customized objects for his clients. He strives to honor classic commercial design and elevate it while maintaining an accessible sense of style and craft.
Kaspr’s work is set apart by its ability to adapt seamlessly from conceptually strong two dimensional graphic design into singular installations, activations, and environmental experiences. This integration of skills creates the most original and authentic content for an audience.
Kaspr has worked with a variety of clients, including Victoria’s Secret, Ray Ban, North Face, American Express, Urban Outfitters, Nike, MoMA, Refinery 29, Baggu, Bon Appetit, Facebook, Madewell, Goop, Rebecca Minkoff, Yahoo!, Delpozo, Afar Magazine, Fleur du Mal, & I Love Dust.
Along with his personal work, Kaspr co-founded the critically acclaimed wallpaper and fabric design studio Flat Vernacular.
