Join Zachary Schomburg this fall at Outlet for a six week workshop focused on generating short prose.
Through prompts, exercises and guided readings that focus on prose poetry, flash fiction, short lyric essay, short non-fiction, micro-memoir, short biography, etc, participants will compose a series of new prose pieces and discover new approaches to writing in condensed spaces.
Togther we'll read pieces from Anne Carson's Short Talks, Karl Ove Knausgaard's Autumn, Rivka Galchen's Little Labors, Maggie Nelson's Bluets, Brian Blanchfield's Proxies, Mary Ruefle's My Private Property, Sawako Nakayasu's Texture Notes, Suzanne Buffam's Pillow Book, Andrea Rexilius' New Organism Essays, and Julio Cortazar's Instruction Manual.
Our workshop will be capped at 6 people. We will meet once per week for 6 total weeks. Each participant will get about 30 minutes of focused group discussion by the group at least 3 times. Each piece will be workshopped for about 30 minutes.
$200 total per person for the 6 weeks.
